I had some time this weekend so decided to brave the weather and spend some time out at Anahuac NWR. Over the years I have developed distrust for “the weather man” and despite a grim forecast I tried my luck. This time the forecast was correct and it was very wet and very windy. It was interesting to drive around the refuge with nobody else there and to see how much bird activity there was. Hey, no surprise, birds have to eat rain or shine. I felt a little sorry for this Merlin hanging onto its perch in the rind and rain. I think this expression says it all.
