Busarellus nigricollis
Here’s another shot from our first day in the Pantanal from along the trans-Pantanal “highway.” The highway is actually a dirt road that runs across a huge swamp and along the road are lots of bridges over particularly wet areas. We quickly realized that during the dry season these bridges are excellent indicators for concentrations of birds. This Black-collared Hawk was hanging around near one of the first bridges we crossed and gave us a great opportunity to snag a quick flight shot.
