Vanellus chilensis

The Southern Lapwing was a pretty common and I am sorry to say largely overlooked bird during our trip to the pantanal. Thankfully I had the presence of mind to snap a few photos of them between photo opportunities of the less common birds. I was particularly impressed with the long plume on the head of this individual from our first day.
