Buteogallus meridionalis

This Savanna Hawk is one of several species of raptors that we encountered during our pantanal trip. They seemed to be pretty comfortable with our presence allowing for some nice photos. It also didn’t hurt that they seem to prefer sitting up on open perches making them easy to spot from a long distance.
