Piranga bidentata
The first Flame-colored Tanager I ever saw was near Tucson, AZ more than 10 years ago and I remember how much time we spent trying to get a photo. It wasn’t until I made it to Costa Rica that I really got a good look at the bird and wow once I did I was really impressed. This male was eating berries on the Cerro de la Muerte (Mountain of Death) this past October. He really brought some color to an overcast day!
