As we found in other parts of our visit to the Mediterranean countries, there were an abundance of wild cats around the area of the Roman Forum and other ruins, who were fed and cared for by locals. Most of them didn't seem to be afraid of humans, but generally kept their distance from tourists (always good advice).
This particular cat seemed to be in charge of the Colosseum, where he was greeted and spoiled by tour guides and locals, and answered to the name "Nero".
