This was actually taken at full optical zoom of 600mm and then additional interpolated, or what Sony calls Clear Image Zoom, for another 2X enlargement. That doesn't work well for all subjects, since it changes to average focus, and you don't have control of what the focus point is, but it worked pretty well on this series that I took.
