Some details of the upper roller furler system. This is straight off a Hobie 18. Roller bearing attaches to the mast via a short cable from the upper shackle. A turning block for a wire halyard is placed in line between the low end of the bearing and the rest of the forstay. To the left you can see the end of the wire halyard attached to a short piece of line which joins to the temporary line halyard via a pair of small sister clips. All this needs to pass easily into the jib luff zipper pocket so everything should be small to avoid snags.
