Tarpon fishing in Punta Rassa, Florida

Leaving Faceville, Georgia, Ridgway headed for Punta Rassa, Florida to do some tarpon fishing. Fishing had always been a passion of his and he seldom missed an opportunity to engage in the sport. Tarpon fishing was also quite the rage among the wealthy in the 1890s. His party stayed in the famous Tarpon House when they weren't camping at their fishing site on Punta Blanco. The Tarpon House can be seen in photo #0215 and in the background of photo #0200. After his fishing adventure, Moore headed north to Tallahassee but he returned to Punta Rassa briefly in March, with a new, larger camera to photograph the barn seen in photos #0284, #0285, and #0317. Photo #0284 is one of 10 that Moore displayed at the Camera Club of New York, Members Exhibition in May of 1900.
