Good Image - I like the catchlight in the eyes and of course the whole image!
Seems to me the nose and the blade of grass across the face is in focus, suggesting that the focal point was at the very front of the animal - easy to say but if the focus would have been concentrated on the eyes it would have been a still better image - of course now we are talking manual focusing - hindsight is always perfect!
Also John if right too - shoot with a 300 mm lens and you need at least 300s of a second or more if handheld - i.e. focal length equals shutter speed
STILL A VERY GOOD IMAGE

Nice shot, just a suggestion but I probably would like to shoot this at about 1/500 sec, this to freeze the image, and get a sharp image at the end. JV
