Hi Nancy
This is a Spotted Tussock Moth (Lophocampa maculata), there are many different color phases of these caterpillars depending on what instar they are , yours appears to be middle instar. They feed on broadleaf trees like Maple and Red Alder. Derrick

Your picture is a sub-species of"Isia isabella,"or "Woolly Bear caterpiller moth."Hope you find this helpfull.
