The hanging green growth on Vancouver Island's evergreen and deciduous trees is made up of lush epiphytic mosses, ferns, and intricate hanging lichens. Thriving in the wet coastal temperate rainforests, these organisms use the trees strictly as a physical perch and do not take food or water from the host tree. ~ Vancouver Island Big Trees
