Hair ice (also known as frost beard or ice wool) is a rare, delicate, and silky white, hair-like ice formation that grows on dead, moist, and rotting deciduous wood during humid, sub-freezing conditions. It appears as fine filaments, around \(0.02\text{\ mm}\) in diameter, often in curly or wavy, cotton candy-like clumps, typically seen in forests above 45 North latitude.
