Mount Arrowsmith, a significant landmark on Vancouver Island, has a rich history rooted in Indigenous culture, serving as a territorial marker, spiritual landmark, and source of stories about a great flood where it anchored boats and protected people.
Over the years it has evolved from a 20th-century destination ski resort to a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve focused on conservation and adventure tourism, encompassing deep cultural ties, logging history, and efforts to balance development with preservation.
