Red huckleberries, while common in the Pacific Northwest, have some unique characteristics. They are a good source of Vitamin C and have been traditionally used for food and medicine by Indigenous peoples. Interestingly, attempts to cultivate them from seeds have often failed, suggesting a dependence on native soil conditions.
