When traveling the roads of Vancouver Island, you must always be aware of possible obstacles. On a straight level road, this dead Douglas Fir fell just 100 feet in front of us. Easy to remove with a few axe whacks. A driver stopped and helped drag the tree off the road. Most folks that travel these roads carry a chain saw just for this reason.
