This was our bonus find on a recent forest drive. It would have been easy to miss, as the Western Lady Slipper only grows to a few centimeters tall. It was just a speck of purple in a mossy spot on the hillside. While wildflower websites note that they are often found on the forest floor, this is the only one we've ever seen and we'd probably miss it if we tried to find it again. We were lucky!
