Piper’s Lagoon Bird Watching
You may not see bears and wolves wandering around in the park, but you’re definitely are going to see colourful and different types of birds. The size of the lagoon itself is equal to the size of three football fields together. It fills to the rim during high tide and empties almost entirely during the low tides. Consequently, a nutritious muck will remain after the water goes down and that muck attracts many different kinds of birdlife. That is mainly why Piper’s Lagoon Park is one of the more popular destinations for migratory birds. Bird species seen in the park include bald eagles, great blue herons, sandpipers, horned grebes, kingfishers, loons, oyster catchers, and seagulls. ~ Vanisle Wildlife
