It’s very difficult to sneak up on cows or calves. Thanks to the positioning of their eyes, cattle can see almost 360 degrees. They turn their heads to get a better look in their blind spot, which is straight ahead. They can also see well in low light.
Another trait that helps them avoid sneak attacks is that they have an aversion to strong odours and they can smell them up to six miles away.
They say the best technique for approaching cattle is to walk straight towards them, however because of their love to play, calves might be a little more difficult! ~ The Dairy Alliance
