Not to often do you see wild turkeys along Highway 19A on Vancouver Island. To our surprise we encountered a pair of them, just wandering along the road. Traffic slowed, many cell phone shots were taken and after a few shots of our own we continued on our way. Later in the day we passed through the area again, turkeys were still there and cell phones were still the camera of choice. After talking to some locals we found out that the there is a small flock of turkeys that have been in the area for 7 or 8 years. The story is that they may have been let loose or escaped from a local farm.
