Known as Captain Morgan's or Shirley Painter's house, a 7500sq ft house built about 1885 in Genoa Bay was lost to fire Friday, February 24, 2023. Shirley was an avid bird lover and each year many humming birds were tagged in her back yard for migratory research. The building once served as mess hall for the workers in a booming lumber business located at Genoa Bay, as well as offices for the business.
