My great great great grandfather left England at 19 as assistant to the surgeon on the First Fleet that went to Australia in 1788.
William was inspired by his cousin who circumnavigated the world with Captain Vancouver and whose name is in many parts of B.C. William stayed in Australia and was one of the pioneers. He was known as a man of integrity who worked hard to help the Colony survive in his important position as Commissar General.
