This immature downy woodpecker was assertively attacking the wild cherry, although the wild cherry was well ripen and starting to dehydrate with the lack of moisture. The woodpecker's beak is red from the cherry juice and matches it's crown feathers that have started to develop. It was interesting to watch it feed from the cherry.
