Volunteer cherry trees along the side of the road still bear fruit, but this sour variety of pie cherry doesn't seem to appeal to the birds taste buds.

I wish the birds would eat the sour ones and leave mine alone. We just put a net up to stop the birds from eating our two dozen, not quite ripe yet cherries. Pretty shot. Heather Wade
