It's fall and the Hooded Mergansers are showing up in the lakes and estuaries. My guess is this is
an immature male. The information I have says the female's eye has a brown iris, their upper
bill is black-edged with orange and the lower bill is yellow. Birders, please feel free to
help in identifying whether this is a male or female of the species.
