A real beauty of a shot. From this angle, you can also see the eyelid partially closed. Gorgeous bird, and very nice capture with the beak open, preening.

Hi Daphne
I wondered how long it would take for one of our local photographers to get this adult Bonaparts Gull picture. It has been at Art Mann Park for over a week now and just this morning the 9th was joined by two others in breeding plumage.
The bird is in a major molt and when i first saw it the wing shafts lacked hardly any feathers, but it seems to be coming on nicely now..
