Rosa Nutkana

This is the local wild rose. Can be called the Nootka Rose. It was named by James Dougles who was George Vancouver's botonist. He used the name "Nootka" to refer to the Nuu-chah-nulth people of the west coast of Vanvouver Island.

Magnificent lighting and colours, eye-pleasing irridescence and a suitably dark background. The detail is so sharp, and the rose's centre has almost a neon brightness to the yellow stems. Just a great shot, all around.
