Very nice image, Jonas, with or without frame! -- db.

Some professional artists for a while didn't crop their film media in an effort to put on display as a part of the image the totality of the photographic process. So they showed the entire 35mm film out to the edges or, more likely, sheet film sometimes without enlargement. I was never convinced that it was anything more than a mannerism, since serious photographers rarely took up the habit. I agree with Rod that this border is a mess because the filmstrip holes are partially cropped and don't add a thing to the image. Funny but I've never seen anyone offer an esthetic justification for using borders at all, and mostly they don't work except to prettyfy and dilute the impact of the image. Otherwise, this is quite a strong image. -tv

Rod has once again shown his bias and I have to say ignorance.

Wonderful image - the natural frame and grain add so much..

I don't mind the frame here (especially with the explanation) and it is a very powerful image. Thank you for sharing it with us.

This image demands to be looked at, but even more so thought about.

Well I understand your view. To my defense I have to say that this frame is not done in digital it's from the enlarger I used when exposing the print. So the black frame is in fact part of the negative. You se the holes to the sides. I could not find the original scan for this so I just let the frame be.

Itsa real shame to see wot could be a powerful picy surrounded by a total distraction. I know we're amateur but this looks really amateurish. I downloaded it & cropped all the rubbish out & was shocked to see a powerful picy. I think your photography is too good for scrap booking techniques:-)
