I don't mind the arm - I think it could go either way, but I like the whole picture, including the hair (which I didn't even notice -that's how they're wearing it these days, right? hehehe)

Totally with you about cropping. Cropping for me, unless minor, is against my photographic religion.

Thanks for all the comments. Everyone is entitled to their view and I'm greatful for them. I must say I'm satisified with this image as it opens up for different interpretations.

As for my thought behind this image is that it has that "RAW" orphan/street child look with dirty face, clothes and hair. The arm and child to the left adds the feeling of crowded urban environment and documentary style. I agree though that the arm could have benifited from a bit more out of focus.

Also as for crop I alwas make my crops in the viewfinder. Never afterwards. (I'm a bit religous about this for my own images, but I respect if others work in different ways.)

=)

I like this a lot Jonas but I agree that a crop would look good. I might even crop a lot more on the left, in half, up to her hair, completely eliminating everyone else. Beautiful little girl and I like the DOF which makes those lovely eyes really stand out. :-) CJ

Lovely. The other people in the pic don't bother me.

You might be right Jano cos I can't take me eye off that bleeding hair now:-)

What i meant by RAW is the grubby little orphan feel (thanks Rod for putting that into words :) but I still feel that the hair in the right eye should be cloned. The rest I think either adds or subtracts of the image... not sure which. Obviously the focus goes straight to the little girl, so for me it more of a distraction issue with the hair than with the overall pic. This pic and the look i think, the more I look at it, seems to say... "all this activity and ppl around me... yet here I AM".... Such an emotive shot. jano

I might be on the wrong track here as I don't see this as a pretty little girl picy that's why the arm & hair over the girls eye are needed for the feel. We can't tell wot this is but the look & feel of the picy suggests this might be an orphan or street kid etc to me. If this is meant as a nice shot of a nice looking kid then the arm & grubby looking hair & face might need a fix up a. Unless wot I'm seeing as grubby is just shadows on the face. Even presented like this the kid is a little darling.

The "eyes" have it! Nice pic designboy, another great example of selective DOF. - angioman

I bet she has a dream to get away from the boys! lol I love the rawness to this shot. However, I would definitely crop that arm on the left out, but that does add to the rawness - so if you leave it, I would agree to blur it. Another nitpic is to clone out the hair in the front of the right eye. For me that really distracts from her gorgeous eyes. Wonderful capture!!! jano

It's funny I don't mind the arm in this picy as it seems to reinforce the tension. This works really well for me. If you do crop the left side off why don't you put the silly sig over there & then do the crop:-)

I would crop off the left side just to the right of that stick/paintbrush someone is holding. This is a wonderful capture of that appealing young face.

well done, but wish the arm on the left was out of focus.
