Sunflowers Coming and Going

West Hawley, Massachusetts

I hate using flash and do it so infrequently that I could immediately find this one.

I don't know why it says no flash was used. Will it still be acceptable, as the lighting is quite obvious?

This really does look surreal Mary Anne, and I like it! Good use of flash here! :-) CJ

Thanks for the comments. I really don't know how this happened, as my flash shots are generally just "blown" or dark and muddy looking. Hence, I don't use the flash very often. This challenge will force me to do more with it.

Normally when you use the flash Debi it leaves a nasty shadow on one side of the subject. You can see the shadow to the left of the flower although this shadow looks fine & not nasty at all in this setting. The picy looks really good Mary Anne.

What shadow - Please explain - I know zero about flash - Debi

Talk about creative use of flash - so evocative and surreal. Good saturated colors with no flashy burnouts. Everything is transformed from a "natural" rendition of a clicheed image into an attention grabbing work of art. The background in particular has been converted from a sunny day's garden shot into a dreamlike echo of the foreground flower which seems suddenly startled from its mystical droopiness. -tv

Wonderful! Mary Anne!
Yes, its acceptable! I can see the shadow clearly...
That's the idea behind having this challenge so that we get used to using an important tool effectively...
