The arc, or arch, is such a compelling shape that even in isolation, it is subject to interpretations beyond the immediate impression of a banana in a pool. Seurat believed that a diagonal line could be read differently from left to right than right to left. I read this from left to right as a raised eyebrow, or possibly a beret on a profile, or etc. Anyway it's well placed to allow the imagination to read in many ways. -tv
