Thanks Tom and Charlie. Yes, these little hidden paths many cities seem to have are fun to explore Tom. This is on the SW slope of Queen Anne Hill Charlie, just a block or two below and west of the well known Kerry Park where so many of the tourist buses go for a view of the city.

Great color contrast. I dont know the local geography well enough to figure out where this was taken. Can I get a hint?

Nice vibrant blues & greens. We have a lot of these around me in Oakland, usually you could walk right by without notice, but if you take one, 'Alice in Wonderland' soon comes to mind. Your right, you don't know where you'll end up.
Thanks much Rod and Penny :-) Seattle and SF are quite similar looking Rod with all their hills and proximity to water. And now with both heavily invested in the tech industry people move back and forth between the two cities a lot and they have a somewhat similar vibe. The staircase just leads higher on the hill Penny. There are hundreds of these all over town and in some unexpected places you find very narrow dirt footpaths going through dense hillside foliage, all of them marked by the same white wooden railing. It is fun to follow these old paths and see where you will end up, quite often not where you expected.
