I like this one. As for colors/luminance and PS, I've discovered that if i "save for web" directly from an adobe colorspace image in 16-bit, the outcome is sometimes utterly wrong - colors way off - compared to if I first convert to sRGB, then to 8-bit and THEN do a "save for web". Just an idea.

Thanks Britt. I can see those blue spots now on pBase. I couldn't see them in Adobe though. I wonder if uploading to pBase alters the luminosity/contrast of a photo? I'll reprocess this afternoon Thanks again. dtallakson

Fabulous lighting! Can you burn the far right part of the top shoe that appears blue right by the edge of the image? There is also a couple of small dots in the upper left corner that could be burned out so that they don't distract from the shoes themselves. You can tell these shoes have seen some usage! I even like the texture of the carpet they are laying on as it gives a "rough" feel to what the shoes have been through. Nicely done!

Hey Jano, thanks for your kind words. I used a 75 watt light bulb. I'd like to be able to use more natural light but this house is very dark. I really liked your original. It certainly has a lot more charming and meaning than these old size 12s! d.tallakson

Great job D! I really like the detail and the slight hint of blue. Good job. I did my original shot with window light only so I'm interested in your lighting also - looks like it could be the same. Thanks for considering my image as your inspiration (blush) jano

love this shot and love the original. Would have loved to imitate it myself on here but I've a long way to go to get to this level - its great. Would like to attempt my own "beginners" attempt with my sons rugby boots (off challenge)so could you give some details of lighting used. thanks...claire

OK, this is the replacement image. I don't think it's as harsh as the first one. dtallakson

Thanks Coamature. I think you are right. I did run it through Lucis which I think may have been a mistake. Maybe I'll back it up to a point before Lucis....If I saved that step. I'm not good at saving all the inbetween steps in post processing. Again, thanks for your input. d.tallakson

Maybe a touch harsh on the light and/or contrast. The light could change to shadow a bit more gracefully. Jano's shoes are tough to fill. -COAmature
