Think you did quite well here, Jano. I too really like the b/w tones and contrast. The composition works. Nothing to worry about then ;)

Thanks CJ - I think I hurried too much with the last one. I think I hurried too much all the way around - but it is sooooo cold here and it's been like that for soooooo long... we just hurry hurry and don't take the time to think. Probably should have been a b&w to begin with, but I kinda liked the colors of the suet. But I think the focus is now on the feather vs. other distractions. jano

This looks good Jano! The b/w treatment draws the eye to the feather more. :-) CJ

Wooden ducks is a great idea!!! but decided to go with this b&w version. I think it is a little more tender to the eyes. jano

..... or some wooden ducks.

Thanks all for commenting. The snow is distracting and it is so damb bright here :) I'll try a crop or perhaps have some time to try another go at this. I'm also working on a b&w on another for variation. It's currently -18 degrees here so I'm babying my cam and keeping it warm for the time being lol What I need is a pet parrot!!!

Extreme range grabs attention which settles down into enjoying the fine details of the feather. Difficult composition seems balanced with tension. It grows.. -tv

I like the snow . . . even though the highlight is blown. I also like the composition here. Maybe add some tones to the snow to pull the highlights back. I dunno. -- Bruce

Jano, I agree with CJ that cropping off some of that white snowy area would improve the image. The detail of the feather is very nice against the OOF background.

Love the feather Jano but did you think about cropping this square, eliminating the white snow on the left and cropping down a little on the top? This will move the feather over more to a thirds area and uses the vein as a leading line along with the feeder in the b/g. All that bright white snow seems to draw the eye away from the details of the darker feather. Just a thought! :-) CJ

Great idea for a picy Jano. I'm finding the white snow around the fevver a problem to look at, maybe it's too white & stark. Well done anyhow:-)
