I'm not sure what Nostradamus has to do with the crow/raven, maybe Poe would have been a better choice, but a funny "bird" pic anyway Armin! LOL! :-)D CJ

:-)hehe

lol Rod. OK then.. the raven is a toy bird from childhood, the old man on the book cover resembles a dear uncle. The candle is there to get enough light to shoot the image in the first place! Or a reference to the illumi.. oh..nevermind.

I think there was a warning from Nostraldamus about not letting the bird of paradise fly up yer nose.

Thanks for your interpretation Kiki. Dont know what the artist was thinking but I like the story and the pic - Debi

Dark and evocative. Yeah, I don't get all the symbolism myself, but I keep coming back to this one. -- Bruce

It's great to see your creatively dark sepia at work again and so apt for the topic. Nicely staged. -tv

wow. Deep stuff! Makes me embarassed to have my chicken photo next to it (the meaning behind that one is "we had chicken for dinner"!!). Thanks for explaining - claire

Quote the raven: "Nevermore".. there are references to both Edgar Allan Poe and Nostredamus here - both horror story-writers of their time. To me, the title suggests that the world of today exceed their wildest fantasies. To which I would partly agree.. it's a mad world. The danes have a proverb about humanity "going to hell on first class". Stern concept, nice shot and the strangest bird yet :)

sorry I don't understand this. Can you explain? - claire

Well, I don't get it. But it has captured my attention longer than normal, so I guess this picture is a success. - J.V.

Indeed, we have a lot of guests here right now, still going South, yet, neither my current equipment nor my skills are good enough to capture them adequately. Birding...yes...I've started with it (as is with photography)...but a 500/f4 or something comparable is not affordable...and everything else is simply not enough...spent days at lakes... but was not able to get what I wanted to...even with more than 8000+ shots...I'm still struggling with the beauty I've seen but was not able to frame :-)
