City Pigeons

Those were at ~200 meters away (my estimate), shot at 1815mm (35 equiv), hand held! That's quite nice for this little P&S ... ;-)

Well done Oved - nice composition! These pigeons are everywhere it seems. The b/g is just great too! :-) CJ

Bruce, thank you. Lonnit would probably argue that the birds are exactly on thirds :-) Anyway, I reckon the current composition gives equal weight to subject(s) and background and thus is more balanced. I'm not sure I'd like to introduce tension here... Maybe.

Wow, that IS a long way. Nice. A little to centered though, I think. -- Bruce

BTW, I just had a small contrast enhancement and resize. The S5IS has an option for thirds grid which is a great help in composition and leveling the camera.

Thanks Brent. In the background is the neighbor town of Tirat Hacarmel. Regarding digital zoom in camera vs cropping - I presume you get more latitude cropping, but I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference, especially with those sizes we post on the web...

Impressive reach there Oved. I'd be curious as to how digital zoom in the camera compares to cropping later in Photoshop. What city is in the background?

No TC, used the camera's digital zoom.. No PP too, essentially.
