Thanks John for explanation. There was indeed a great difference when resizing (to a smaller size) with 'bicubic sharper'. Tomas

Just so everybody knows ... it is too late for anyone to see this but

Bicubic Sharper preserves original sharpness but doesn't really sharpen the way a sharpener does.
However, the fact that you are going to a smaller size gives some gain if you can maintain the original sharpness in the first place. John

This is just beautiful! The colors and DOF are just perfect. And I did not see what K2 wrote ;;-)

Thanks Lydia and k2. I resubmitted the image with correct size. This time I used the resizing method suggested by k2 and I guess it really helped the result. I hope it was not a ticket to 'pending'. :) Tomas

Oh.. and it's a wee bit too SMALL.. 750 px horzontally.. the requirement for this particular challenge is 800 pixels along longest side.

I think there must be a secret rule of straws in photograpy.. "Straws are always nice". Pleasing colors, comp and DOF. I wouldn't mind the straws sharper, but this in "no-PP"..
There is, however, a possibility to cheat without cheating, so to speak: You can downsize with "bicubic sharper" in PS.. (Cat - you didn't see that. And no, I didn't do it. Almost.)

This is beautiful Tomas. Composition. Light. Subject. All of it. The bend of the plant leading the eye into the photo... Wonderful. ~Lydia
