Wow - very nice capture. I have yet to get close to one of these.

Nice darkness and reflections and a fine stimulant to my heron-envy :) When I visit my parents, they often wade right next to a seaside lawn outside my bedroom at night. But if I even move, they scream and flee for life. During daytime they stay faaaar away. Still only dreaming of catching one this close.

:) Sometimes the Auto does a great job :)

Cat, I checked the original file and couldn't find WB there. I suspect it may have been Auto, as the light kept changing that day.

Nice and subtle colors. I was wondering what WB did you use, as the colors are fairly accurate, my guess is "shade" but the exif is not showing any information to make a conclusion.

Wow - it's hard to get within 1200 feet of a heron around these waters here where I live.- nice capture Mary Anne. - Kelly
