Lovely image and nice contrast between the living and dead trees Tony. CJ

Pressing the limits of dynamic range can generate extraordinary results as this image shows. The cloudy dark bg seals the deal. Terrific contrast between the beaten stump and younger trees struggling for survival. Memorable. -tv

Iso 80... I try not to bump the iso on the S3. I'm not too thrilled with the added noise, so I usually play with the aperture in AV mode to get the desired exposure.
Thanks for the kind words!

The gray background works wonders. Beautifully exposed.. the camera manages the dynamic range well. Very low ISO...? -tv

CO: I love those moments when you are walking around and you get smacked in the face with something beautiful like this! I'm just glad it came out close to how I saw it.
Thanks for the kind words Jano!

This is really beautiful and the light is gorgeous making it so artistic. Good for you in capturing this rare beauty. I like the way it shows the change of the tree from bottom to top. jano

I was thinking something happened along the way to change this tree... : )
I was extremely pleased when I saw this tree with this lighting. I was in the middle of a hike, and I happened upon this tree just at the right time as it was overcast most of the day. Thanks for all the kind words!

I am thinking the change is from magnificent stump to earth ... the tree stump change happened a while back. Your sky and lighting were cooperative. Nice Tony. John
