Thanks CJ, He might look cute, but he's got feet like paddles and massive claws, which isn't much fun when he tries to climb up your legs, if he sees you eating something :( Maurice

According to my recent understanding of the topic, you are correct. Originally I was thinking we couldn't have a single focal point but I believe I was misinterpreting the guidelines. So....this is right on topic as is and very cute too! :-) CJ

Oooopss!, Just compressed the file a bit more!! :)
CJ, I was hoping the leaves distract the eye from the kitten and counter-balance the focal point, by making the frame busy ... i think! :) Maurice

Image is a bit oversized. Pls compress within 150k and download again. Thks. -tv

I like the nice fall color too Maurice and I thought maybe the focal point on the kitty might be off-topic but now that I understand that I haven't a clue what is on-topic, this works fine for the challenge...... but it still might be cute in B&W! :-) CJ

Thanks for the comments. He does enjoy playing with leaves the only trouble is he keeps bringing them indoors!
I'll try a B&W conversion, I do like the gold leaves though :)
Rod my S3 never seems to focus in the correct spot when using auto focus, I'm considering returning it for attention whilst its under guarantee :(

The trouble I have with this shot is the cat seems like the intended focal point but because the face isn't in focus it does diminish it somewhat, my eyes still fix on the cats face as a focal point. Good idea for a picy Maurice, well done mate.

I just had a thought Maurice - did you try this in B&W? The kitty might just be so camouflaged by the leaves this would take on an even more cluttered look! CJ

As I said in the forum, this is a terrific take on the topic because rather than dominating the image, the cat is made to largely recede into it. At first I hardly saw the animal, so well camouflaged. Similarity of colors, patterns and position on the ground among the leaves works well. Of course, ultimately the familiar and compelling eyes and face "win" the battle for attention among the clutter. But look away for a moment, and the brain has to reanalyze the scene again to relocate the animal clearly. Seems well trained in "cover and concealment". I hoope this example encourages more examples of retakes of clichéd subjects -tv

Very cute kitty Maurice and he/she seems to like playing in the leaves but not to happy being photographed! CJ
