Hi Jano, I really like this shot just as it is, I keep coming back to it. It has a great warm feeling and some "wondering" as well as the fence leads off into the distance. Yvonne

No need to apologize tv... i tried a crop as you suggested below.... and saw the crop you put in pending. I'm still leaning towards this original though. I'm not the best judge of cropping though and as I said, I may be all wet on this one. I try to take a pic as my eye sees it. Thanks for taking the time to assist me in my learning curve. As I mentioned, the original was worth saving because it was good. What my somewhat crooked eye says is that it needs a crop. See pending. -tv

Thanks all for commenting. I tried the crop and it just doesn't look right to me... here


i prefer this as imo it gives more depth to the entire image, and also enhances the repetitive pattern. Of course, I may be all wet on that. This lens is so new to me, I was told to up the ISO and need to xp with that more. Right now I'm having too much fun just shooting anything that is front of me or that lands in front me :) Thanks CJ for the reminder. jano

I would like to see the closest out-of-focus post cropped out, and I hope I can explain why. First try: in the "pattern" context, the pattern needs to be well defined and allow it (as Rod said) to be reinforced as it recedes into blurriness down the hill. Since the in-focus area essentially defines the pattern, the front section then becomes a distraction since it breaks the definition. Second try: it would look better and this is a good shot worth saving. -tv

Nice composition Jano and great colors! I have the 100mm macro lens and have found if I up the ISO so I can get about 1.5-2x the focal length on a hand-held non-IS lens, I can get sharper pictures. For slower shutters a tripod or bracing yourself well will help . The 100mm macro is supposed to be great for portraits too so I hope we see some portraits from you with this lens! CJ

This works very well Jano, the OOF part of the fence that dips down hill really reinforces the pattern. Way to go:-)
