Mikey, this is better. The composition is fine, but my monitor still likes stronger shadows; so I think some darkening wouldn't hurt. The danger might be oversaturated colors, but that can always be fixed if necessary. -tv

Glad you like the shot, Brent. The pixelation of the grass is probably due to JPEG compression. This shot has so much detail, leaves, flowers, etc., that I had to use a quality value of 3 to stay within the 150K maximum, which is the lowest I've ever used posting to these Challenges. It looked OK to me, so I posted it. I'll try making the image smaller and seeing if I can use a higher quality JPEG compression. Thanks for the comment. Cheers, -mikey

The exposure and contrast look spot on to me Mikey, but the grass looks all pixelated somehow. Maybe it needs to be reloaded- it's a nice shot.

Thanks, Tom, that helped a lot. I've been sweating bullets to get this second monitor (21" flat-panel from my desktop setup) working with the laptop and I think I got it. As a last resort I switched the laptop DVI output to the analog video output and that seems to have worked. Whew!! Prior to the switch the 21" was all bright green; lovely!! I also expanded the crop a bit to see more of the garden, the tree, etc. What does it look like at your end now? Thanks again for the help. Cheers, -mikey

Mikey, I'm putting a version in pending that looks better on my monitor (darkened and a bit of contrast added). This is a nice shot worth saving and wins hands down for the best title. -tv

Thanks, Maurice. I'm flying by the SOP here. I just lowered the brightness a tweak or two. What do you (or anybody) think? [still trying to get the dual monitors to work right] Cheers, -mikey

I have the same problem, if I process pictures on my Laptop, they just don't look right when viewed on better quality monitors. Any tweaking of gamma etc. does not improve the laptop!

I thought I did put my name on it but it was late last nite when I posted, so anything goes. As for the exposure, I'm sure the original is fine, (this was processed from the RAW file), but I'm using a laptop and it has different values that I'm not quite used to yet. I'm in the process of changing from a desktop (manly box) to the laptop (girly fold-up) and setting up a dual monitor which isn't quite working at this point. I'll have another go at it this PM when I've got the setup done [crosses fingers]. Thanks, Rod. Cheers, -mikey

Itsa bit over exposed init. Is that why you didn't put your name to it:-) Nice shot but.
