Hi, gang. Haven't been around for a while, but tripped over the thread and couldn't resist tossing in a couple of vacation snaps to balance out all your superb professional shots.

Mary Anne, I don't recall adding saturation. Most of the increase is just from Photoshop 7.0 levels shift to .55 or so and mild unsharp mask added some contrast. -tv

Mary Anne, I'm stumped. I've replaced it with Tom V's edit, which is stronger and removes most of the defects in the original image. But I think the original capture was just of too poor a quality to do any better with. (See the images in the thread in my comment below.) I'll just call it a crummy catch of a haunting scene, and feel grateful that I grabbed it at all and between my and Tom V's pp we got this much out of it.

Walt, I agree with Tom that this is a very nice shot that needs some additional contrast, but I'm not sure that increased color saturation is the way to go. I tried converting it to b & w, but that doesn't work either...I think. I'm eager to see what you do with this.

Tom - Thanks for the tip and work. Your edit is stronger and photographically better, and puts me in a dilemma as to how to revise. I'll post in the thread athttp://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1010&message=24485010

Beautiful shot could use some darkening and contrast. See in pending.
