Hey Cat, I love this great macro with the rich super saturated color.
I had no idea about the monochrome controversy history. Monochrome means one color - an example would be a sepia image, however, it could be any other hue like purple or green as long as it one hue. B&W or grayscale would be considered achromatic - the absence of color.
I too think of monochrome as b/w or rather greytones, allthough any duotone image technically fits the description. To me, this one has three "colors" - tones of black, white *and* orange. Then again, most accept sepia pics as monochrome. And in that context, this is just a crazy sepia. Looked at the b/w version anyway - it pales in comparision. Shapes and textures are wonderful there too, but orange really ignites the magic here. A joy to watch :)

Thanks K2!! I am glad you loved this :) This one is one of my fav too. I had done this one for the the CSLR "monochrome" challenge 69 (http://www.pbase.com/cslr_challenge/image/61195598 ) but after posting in the gallery, it started off a BIG discussion about the definition of the term "monochrome", You can read the thread for cslr69 in the forum. Finally the host ended up changing the topic for 69 from monochrome to greyscale. Well, sadly I had to let go the color :) I like both versions but the b/w version won't fit in this challenge.
