Yellow and blue are opposites on the color wheel, and black and white are "negatives" of each other as well. The shapes here tie the image together, the "islands" of forest on the field echo the cloud-shapes in the sky. Inverse a dup of this shot and overlay on the original in color blend mode, and you see a perfect negative match colorwise. Not to mention how the textures contrast eachother; evenly smooth sky/evenly grainy ground - fluffy oval clounds/jagged oval forests. This is a clean and brilliant take on "negative space", IMO.

This is a gorgeous, well-executed landscape, but off-topic. I say this because "negative space" has various esthetic connotations, none of which are represented here. Beautiful image anyway with wonderful light effects (as TomD mentioned). -tv
At first I thought "heh.. is THIS negative space".. but a split second later I saw it: It certainly is. Briliant take and color photo. The white-on-blue versus the-almost-black-on-yellow.. can't get more negative than that. Everything else here is good as well. In not so many words: WOW!

Nice feeling of distance & scattered light on the ground.
