Excellent entrance to the challenge. Sincerely hoping to see more. This is right on target, although the discussions about "negative space" are not conclusive. To my eye, this is a very appropriate interpretation. The image contains several elements essential for impact, but frequently missing, such as: contrast, both brightness and color; composition and balance - a lovely arch of the blooms with opposing thrust provided by the diagonal stems; sensitively balanced sizing compared to the "negative space" IMHO. I also like the selective focus emphasizing the closest flower, and deep rich colors. -tv

Welcome Eric! And a nice first entry to the CTF Challenge too! I like your composition and red being one of my favorite colors, I like your subject too. ;-) CJ

Thanks fly for the suggestion. I did resize and created a little more space on the upper left. I agree that this makes it a better image.
Thanks jstrong and Rod also for the feedback. I'm brand new to PBase--was glad that I was even able to post the image :). I didnt even know that i gave it a title when I posted. I figured out how to retitle and changed from jpeg2007.0.... to the very descriptive and evocative "Red Gerberas"
Again, I appreciate your taking the time to comment on my image.

Nice one, but wish there was a little more space at the top left.
