If Carole snuck in a target Doug I don't think the neg space would work as well.

It's got the fun factor. Maybe if you could have snuck in the target. -COAmature

Thanks all! I used to play croquet when I was a kid and if we had a decent yard, I'd buy a set now! Rod, I was standing on a deck overlooking this croquet field and perhaps the angle and distance from the field gives less detail to the grass and makes it appear more like negative space. :-) CJ

Now we know what makes negative space: short grass. Nice analysis, Rod. Great shot, Carole. Interesting how the slight turn of head uses the space so well. -tv

Nice shot CJ! It makes me want to dig my croquet set out of the back of my garage! ;-)

Cj, thats really good, the way your subject is looking into the negative space really makes it!

Looking at this shot I'm starting to think that the composition can play a big part in wot I think of as neg space shot. In the other grass shots they have a more normal composition & I can't see neg space thinking it's just because I can see the space as grass but here I can see it's grass yet this looks neg space I think by your placement of the subject. Gawd you're getting good a:-) Well done Carole:-)
