Thanks again guys. I usually try to avoid flower shots. Obviously this is a studio shot though. This challenge has me looking for negative space first and subject second. -COAmature
The use of negative space with the shadow is a plus here and well done. I think an angle maybe a little above the flower would have added to this, just to get its core. Again, the shadow in the neg space is a very creative thought. Well done. jano
So many outdoorsey flowers that it's nice to see what can be done indoors. The very slightly textures white "negative space" works very effectively to save the image from that studio laboratory look. It also mutes the white to blend better with the flower. Very nice work. -tv
Thanks for commenting. My goal here was to shoot something with a different definition of negative space. The shadow shows the true bend of the flower which doesn't show with the straight on angle. -Doug
I agree about the negative space here and maybe focusing on the closest petal, not the stem, will give the whole flower sharpness. I like the curved stem shadow as it doesn't even look like it belongs to that flower but has a mind of it's own! ;-) CJ
OK Doug, I think we can both agree that this one has negative space. I'd just like to see more sharpness in the flower. Could you try it with a smaller aperture, maybe around f 8.0?
