Smoke Pedal*

This represents a project I have been working on-and failing at- for the past few months. The idea was to get enough smokey flowers to make a gallery. So far it has been as tough and frustrating as you can imagine.

I think a longer dof would help this shot. It would be nice to see it all in focus. Britt

Very nice in its simplicity.

Thanks tv. I think I was pushing my luck here a little bit on the empty space, but I wanted it to look tall. I found that a crop made it top-heavy, more like a mushroom than a flower. And on that point, its smoke not glass.

Hello, B. When you say smokey flower, do you mean the glass kind or something much more transitory.. like smoke. I can't tell for sure. Anyway, this is a good one, and it is teaching me something that has been long in coming... it has to do with the blank space above the primary substance of the image. I would always crop it out and then I would puzzle about why the image looked so cramped. Now I see with your help that the empty space allows the image to grow in the mind and in the eye. Its an important aesthetic variable that I had not given enough attention to. Thanks for the lesson. -tv
