The small resolution looks ok but I reckon it doesn't do it justice. Must look awesome in high res, at least 1024x768. Never seen so many signs in one place. Couldn't get any more perfect for this challenge.
What do you mean "..was at 38"? Do you mean compressed kilobytes? Remember, the longest side can be 800 pixels (not 640) and compressed to 150k, not 38k, which is very severe and would degrade the image. I would like to see the uncompressed original in Pending if you don't mind trying again. I will compress it optimally and you can decide to replace it if you wish. Thanks. -tv
I think this has real potential, and Rod is reacting to that fact with some valid comments but I would like to see this resized less drastically (now only 500 pixels wide) to preserve more detail and tonal range. Hard to judge as it is, but I actually like the present composition with the little punctuation mark of a sign in the lower right. Visually, it has an important role apart from the others and I like it standing out against the earthy colors. The artistic dilemma with an image as rich as this one is that it lends itself to different uses as a medium. That is, the photo itself and the decisions made in taking the shot become the artist's pallet. How about posting the original in Pending and we will go to work on it? -tv

For some reason I think a telephoto shot would have worked better for me. Starting with the first signs up the hill at the bottom of the shot compressed into a sea of colour leading to the bigger B.B.Q sign. Unless the Do not Climb the Hill sign has some importance to the shot. But it's always hard to say wot will work until we see the results.
